When you know what works in your system, its pretty easy to oick up who can do some base things in your system when watching AAU or high school. AAU especially, because they have such little time together practicing plays or actions, so when they run a coordinated play, is the recruit watching the ball or are they able to run the play while also diagnosing the defense.

If theyre able to run the play, diagnose the defense and get a good look then their awareness is at a base level good enough for your system.

You find a lot of guys who are lower ranked who fit this description because theyre usually the ones who dont have the physical talents (being 6'7 or super athletic) so they have to study the game more to get where they are. Theyre also usually criminally underranked due to a scout's inability to see fit.

There's not a chance in the world Hunter Cattoor was the 511th ranked player in his class...unless he goes somewhere that doesnt fit his talents.

Cattoor + a good fit, probably moves him up to the top 150.

Where you get excited about this class is that there are actually a ton of higher ranked guys who would be good fits within the system. Justin Taylor would be an All-Conference player in this system (probably would at Syracuse too though...but not UNC). Tyler Nickel also shows that ability as well. Rodney Rice for sure as well. I see Noah Clowney as a bigger version of Mutts. Cameron Corhen is a Keve Aluma clone, he is unranked in the 247 composite. Tyrell Ward may need to be coached up a little, so his trajectory may be more of a bell curve than the others, but he has physical tools (like Bamisile) that make it hard to pass him up.
